Also, I will keep repeating this everywhere because it's true. I swear, Sidney Crosby knew last night that Amanda [Last Name] in [Town], PA needed some cheering up, because he went and scored his third career hat trick against the Habs. And each of the three goals was total Sid material, a beauty to watch. IT WAS AMAZING.

Hey they have a video up already! And it's my local FSN they pulled it from, so you get to listen to Steiggy and Bob announcing. (It's not Mike Lange -- our local radio announcer, with the best announcer voice in sports -- but I still love 'em.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJCQII4EGT0

The first goal he seriously got that puck through a hole the size of my fist. 0.01 seconds later, that hole would not be there (Halak was moving with Crosby, but Crosby was just too fast!) That second goal, OMG. Spatial awareness FTW; it was a spin-around backhand and he didn't even SEE where he was shooting it.

Sidney Crosby KNOWS I EXIST and LOVES ME. I swear to you all, it has to be true.

lilacsigil, that echidna is ADORABLE. You knew how to draw me in, because I am also a sucker for awesome cameras.

My cat dreams. He lies on his back, feet in the air, and twitches wildly (you can see his whiskers actually vibrating!) and makes smacking noises with his mouth as though he were eating and sometimes meows -- loudly -- all while never waking up. It is quite amusing to watch.

Y'all rock.

Ooh, I saw an echidna when I was in Australia. A wild one! I was disproportionately excited; I'd been told that they were very rarely seen. The poor little guy was scared of me (and the farmer whose land I was visiting), and it did that thing where instead of running away, it digs its lower half into the ground so all you can see are the spikes.

But! Hedgehogs are cuter, and I think you deserve some! Look! Doesn't it look like the poor little thing is stuck in some kind of ball?

Also! I feel like I should feel sorry for this one, but all I can do is giggle!

But wait! There's more! HEDGEHOG TONGUE!

Googling the phrase "cute hedgehog": I highly recommend it.

Oh, dear, Amanda. You may regret this. Never send an NLDer on a fact- (or hedgehog-) finding mission. :D

Charlotte the Hedgehog loves cilantro (video):

Transcript:

Two women laugh for 40 seconds.

Woman A: Give her some more stem.

Woman B: I don't wanna make her sick.

Woman A: She hasn't had that much, and also, they're very toxin-tolerant. And also, I don't think there's toxins in it.

Woman B (petulantly): Jane! [unknown] there's toxins in chocolate or avacados or...? [Laughter] Look at that mouth.

Woman A: Good girl. [Laughter] Oh, Charlotte.

Woman B: She used her hands!

Woman A: That's almost the first time I've ever seen one.

Woman B: Oh, oh, oh. [Unknown]

Woman A: Okay.

Woman B: She's using her hands! Look, she's usisng her hands.

Woman A: Hmm.

Woman B: I've never seen that before.

Woman A: She's...highly evolved.

Woman B: Okay, Pin. Hang on, puppy. [Clears throat] It's funny. All the hedgehog videos you see, in the background all you hear--[cuts off]

Photos at Hedgehog Central (There are lots!)

And because I'm me, I leave you with: The Sonic the Hedgehog History Trailer!:

(Warning: There's a strobe-light effect in a few places)

Hedgehogs, eh? But what about an ECHIDNA?

They not only lay eggs and move like an adorable shimmering carpet, they dream! There's a lot of them around where I live (and I don't just mean on our 5 cent coin) and it's wonderful to see one rippling off into the bush.
